Throughout my time in this role I have been entrusted with gradually more responsibility. My role at present is a team leader; this entails a lot of work both individually and as part of a team. It is my responsibility to lead and effectively manage a small team of part-time employees within a busy fast paced restaurant. This includes responsibilities such as planning ahead in terms of shift organisation as well as basic induction training with new employees and more specialist one-on-one training in developing skills. Aside from responsibilities within being a team leader I am also consistently responsible for providing outstanding customer service, going above and beyond expectations to ensure a positive experience for every customer. I also have a lot to do with the planning of big events such as Christmas at the restaurant with regards to managing bookings and arranging pre-orders and table plans for a smooth running event. I am also a great port of contact between other staff and management as well as customers and management as I am able to liaise with my superiors to solve any problems or answer any queries.

Oct 2016      Smoking Gun PR

I undertook a two week work placement within Smoking Gun PR group as part of my university course requirement. Although I was only in this role for a short period I feel I learnt a lot from it and was able to develop skills I haven’t had the chance to before. I worked as a general assistant performing tasks to aid with the overall running of successful PR with Smoking Gun’s clients. Although there was an element of going on runs to the shop and countless trips to the post office I also had the chance to write blogs for individual press offices for example Silentnight, I did research tasks and rang around numerous publications to gain information. I practiced my wordpress skills, excel and word as well as building up a professional rapport with the company.

Nov 2016      Cavendish Press

I was able to take a week work placement at Cavendish press office in Media City during Novemeber 2016 as another element of University requirement. Whilst there I worked under features editor Sian Wilson and was her assistant. She would tell me what features she was looking for and it would be my job to source potential interviews for her. I did this through specialised searches on social media something I feel I am confident with. I also performed telephone interviews with the interviewees and transcribed them once they were done.
